Olfactif

Cost: $18 per month (I received a free month with the promo Olfactif had on Black Friday)

What is Olfactif?

Each month you receive a featured fragrance from artists selected by Olfactif.  In addition to that $18 per month, an $18 credit will be added to your account toward the purchase of a full-bottle of a featured fragrance.

As soon as I saw the free offer on Black Friday, I immediately (without hesitation) jumped on the bandwagon of fellow perfume sniffers.

After opening the tiny white box my box was mailed in, I found a small card guiding me through the Olfactif experience.  It told me to try, try again, and the use my special $18 gift code (which I don’t think I get because I got the free box) towards the purchase of my first Full size bottle. At this point I was not too impressed, but still could not stop my curiosity to continue the Olfactif journey.

After removing the white mailer I found this gorgeous box. I must say… Olfactif your box makes a splendid presentation; boy have I seen a lot of different types.

The surprises kept getting better!

As I looked at the box, beneath my fingertips was a small ribbon. The ribbon reminded me of the part in Alice in Wonderland (envisioning the scene where she drunk the bottle that said “Drink me”) whispering to me “pull me”.  As I pulled the ribbon, the top cover which previously displayed the Olfactif Brand, slid up to reveal another note!

The theme of this box was Evening!

Our December collection has three perfumes perfect for all of our December nights. There’s a scent for the quiet evening fireside, with a blanket and book for company. There’s a scent for the happy, raucous gatherings of loved ones that ground us and remind us where we come from. And there’s a scent for dressing up in our glittery best and heading to parties, full of hope for the new year to come.

And on the back, the perfumes included.

The small vile’s of  perfume were starring back at me… taunting me to try them.

I picked up the first…

Night by Sarabecca. Night is an all-natural scent that doesn’t capture the essence of nighttime so much as create a warm, shining beacon to cut through the evening darkness. It has a burst of spicy citrus in the top notes, and the ginger and amber glow candle-like on your skin for hours.

The next scent to smell was….

Au Lait by DSH Perfumes. This favorite from Boulder-based perfumer Dawn Spencer Hurwitz is a sweet, gentle, milky concoction. Imagine breathing in the freshly steamed milk on a vanilla latte, and you’ve just about captured Au Lait.

The final scent…

Black Angel by Mark Buxton. Black Angel starts with a light, spicy vibration of ginger and jasmine. The dark sensuality of a styrax-amber accord comes forward, turning Black Angel into a deep, woody beauty at home on a woman or man. It pushes no single note into the spotlight; all notes hold together in a symphony of scent that is more than the sum of its parts.

The scent I fell for was Night or was it AU Lait… I see why they say you have to keep trying perfume over and over until you discover if you like it or not. Every time I tried the scents, the scents seemed to change! My first favorite was Night… then it dramatically changed to AU Lait.

The presentation of the perfume samples was quite impressive, a great  gift idea for someone who has everything and is hard to buy for!

Have you tried Olfactif? What did you think about it?
